SoftBank Group's Masayoshi Son rarely expresses concern about AI safety risks, calls on countries to work together to address the threat.
SoftBank Group leader Masayoshi Son is one of the most steadfast believers in artificial intelligence, but even he says he is concerned about safety risks as machines rapidly gain more capabilities. Speaking Sunday at an event during a "Technology and Society" forum in Kyoto, Son said the exponential growth of AI capabilities means countries must build mutual trust in order to jointly harness the technology. "We no longer have the luxury of letting humans fight each other," Son said, adding that countries need to work together to control the greater threats posed by powerful AI models. He said superintelligence could become "super dangerous" if it falls into the wrong hands.
