Saudi-led coalition: Houthi claims about attack on Riyadh are misleading
A Saudi-led multinational coalition said on the 3rd that the Houthi armed group's claim of attacking Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, that day was "misleading." According to a report by the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat on the 3rd, coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki told the newspaper that the Houthis had recently suffered personnel losses in Taiz Province in southwestern Yemen and on other front lines, which has led the group to seek a "false victory." He said the Houthis' move was intended to divert attention from their losses. Earlier on the 3rd, the Houthis said the group had used ballistic missiles and drones to attack an Aramco oil facility in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. The attack achieved its intended targets, and "direct hits" caused fires at the target locations. This was a response to Saudi attacks on Sanaa and other Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.
