Reports say US-Russia talks on Ukraine include oil deals
According to people familiar with the matter, Russian President Putin raised potential business deals involving the sale of Russian energy assets during a meeting with a U.S. envoy. The two sides also explored the possibility of promoting a "reset" in bilateral relations through economic initiatives such as post-war U.S.-Russia energy cooperation. The people familiar with the matter said that during the meeting, Putin proactively proposed advancing the sale of a massive asset package under Lukoil, one of Russia's largest private energy giants. This includes the company's oil fields, refineries, and gas stations around the world. The consortiums currently vying for the deal include: American billionaire and Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly; two Middle Eastern consortiums with deep business ties to the Kushner or Witkoff families; and the U.S. government itself.
