Amazon (AMZN.O) cloud service (AWS) said that some data centers in the Persian Gulf region are still unable to restore data access due to damage suffered during the war between the United States and Iran. In its latest status update, AWS said it currently cannot access data stored only in the Bahrain data center and in some network areas in the United Arab Emirates. Previously, two AWS data centers in Bahrain were attacked and damaged in the early stages of the conflict, with damage exceeding the level their service was designed to withstand. AWS said most customers have resumed operations through backups or by migrating to data centers in other countries, but data in one availability zone in the United Arab Emirates is still inaccessible, and engineering teams are repairing resources in two other availability zones. The company expects to provide a further update on the recovery of the Bahrain facilities early next year.
