Denmark and Greenland reach a DKK 1.2 billion investment agreement to support the development of the Arctic island.

The Danish Ministry of Finance announced that Greenland and Denmark have reached agreement on a new investment package totaling DKK 1.2 billion, with funds to support Greenland's development during the period from 2026 to 2029. The agreement focuses on water supply projects and energy infrastructure investment, and provides funding for the operation of Greenland's new international airport. In addition, the agreement allocates funds for feasibility studies on a new regional runway in Ittoqqortoormiit and a new deep-water port in Qaqortoq. On the social welfare front, the agreement includes an assistance program for Greenland's "economically most vulnerable" citizens and continues the agreement for Greenlandic patients to receive medical treatment in Denmark. This funding is intended to improve Greenland's infrastructure conditions and safeguard local livelihood stability, further consolidating the economic and social ties between Denmark and this Arctic autonomous territory.
