The national carbon market has entered a new stage of rapid development.

The reporter learned from the 2026 China Carbon Market Conference held in Wuhan, Hubei on the 15th that as of the end of August, the national carbon emissions trading market had recorded a cumulative trading volume of 961 million tons and a turnover of 65.699 billion yuan. Since the market opened, the institutional system of the national carbon emissions trading market has been basically established, market vitality and efficiency have been comprehensively improved, and the market has now entered a new stage of rapid development. The National Carbon Market Development Report released during the conference shows that in 2025, the national carbon emissions trading market operated for a total of 243 trading days, with a trading volume of 235 million tons, up 24.36 percent year on year, setting a new high since the market opened, and a turnover of 14.63 billion yuan.
