Guangzhou: Marine GDP to exceed 730 billion yuan by 2030

The General Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government recently issued the "Notice on the 15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Guangzhou's Marine Economy." It proposes that by 2030, the comprehensive competitiveness of the marine economy will rise substantially, the gross ocean product will exceed 730 billion yuan, and a modern city with distinctive marine characteristics will be basically built. The capacity for marine scientific and technological innovation to generate breakthroughs will be significantly enhanced, the capacity for translating scientific and technological advances into results will be greatly improved, the modern marine industrial system will be built at an accelerated pace, the efficiency of marine resource utilization and ecological protection will continue to improve, modern marine service and governance capabilities will be continuously strengthened, the "blue circle of friends" will keep expanding, the function of marine-themed cultural tourism and leisure will be further enhanced, the people's multi-level and diverse needs regarding the ocean will be further met, and the millennia-old commercial capital will radiate new vitality of the times toward the sea. Looking ahead to 2035, a modern city with distinctive marine characteristics will be fully built, playing the role of "vanguard, leader, and locomotive" in building a maritime power and providing strong support for "recreating a new Guangzhou."
