A study recently released by the University of Manchester in the UK shows that a type of immune cell called monocytes plays an important role in maintaining uterine health. The related findings may provide new clues for treating reproductive health issues such as infertility and recurrent miscarriage. The researchers believe that in the future, it may be possible to explore restoring normal immune balance in the uterus by blocking specific inflammatory pathways or targeting molecules that control monocyte migration and activity, thereby seeking new treatments for related diseases. The results of this study have been published in the journal Nature Immunology.
