Korea Export-Import Bank partners with Glencore: $1 billion financing for copper, betting on key resources in the AI era.
The Zhitu Finance APP has learned that South Korea's policy financial institution, the Korea Export-Import Bank (Eximbank), recently announced that it has reached a strategic financing arrangement totaling $1 billion with the global commodity giant Glencore Plc. According to the agreement, the bank will provide loans to Glencore, while Glencore commits to supplying copper resources to South Korean companies during the loan period. This move is seen as a proactive strategy by Seoul to address the surge in raw material demand triggered by the wave of artificial intelligence (AI), described as "exchanging finance for resources."
