On August 15, during the main event of the 2026 National Ecological Day, it was learned that the Ministry of Natural Resources is deeply implementing Xi Jinping's thoughts on ecological civilization, firmly establishing and practicing the "Two Mountains" concept, adhering to the principle of "developing while protecting and protecting while developing." Through a series of measures such as strengthening the rule of law, enhancing full-chain supervision, increasing efforts in ecological restoration and management of mining areas, and comprehensively advancing the construction of green mines, significant achievements have been made in promoting the green transformation and development of the mining industry. The construction of green mines is being comprehensively promoted. The establishment of green mines has been elevated to a legal requirement. The newly revised Mineral Resources Law explicitly introduces the requirement to strengthen green mine construction at the legal level for the first time, while the Ecological Environment Code and the Implementation Regulations of the Mineral Resources Law also stipulate provisions for green mine construction. The Ministry of Natural Resources, in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other departments, issued a notice on further strengthening the construction of green mines, and the national standard for the General Principles for Evaluating Green Mines has been released and implemented. A work system for green mine construction based on "government guidance, departmental collaboration, enterprise ownership, and social supervision" has basically taken shape. Building green mines has become a common consensus among local governments, management departments, mining enterprises, and the public regarding mining development. Currently, over 1,000 national-level and more than 4,500 provincial-level green mines have been established across the country, continuously promoting the improvement of the ecological environment in mining areas, effectively enhancing the level of resource comprehensive utilization, and orderly promoting the green transformation of the mining industry. According to reports, the next step for the Ministry of Natural Resources will be to fully implement the requirements of the newly revised Mineral Resources Law and its implementation regulations, continuously strengthen ecological restoration in mining areas, enhance supervision and management of ecological restoration for production mines, increase efforts in the ecological restoration of historically polluted mines, comprehensively advance the construction of green mines, improve the standard system for green mine construction, manage the dynamic list of green mines well, continue to consolidate and enhance the quality of green mine construction, and accelerate the green low-carbon transformation and upgrading of the mining industry to play a positive role in promoting the protection and sustainable utilization of natural resources and building a beautiful China.
