Ministry of Water Resources: A regional flood will occur in the Taihu Lake basin.

This morning, the Ministry of Water Resources held a consultation meeting to analyze and assess the national flood prevention situation. Currently, 59 rivers across the country are still exceeding warning levels, and the Taihu Lake basin is expected to experience a large-scale flood. As of 9 a.m. today, 59 rivers in areas such as Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, and Henan are still exceeding warning levels, with 30 rivers exceeding the safety threshold. According to forecasts, from August 15 to 16, influenced by rainfall and upstream water flows, the Taihu Lake basin will experience a large-scale flood, while sections of the Chuhe River (a tributary of the Yangtze River) downstream and the Shaying River (a tributary of the Huai River) from Zhoukou to Jieshou, as well as the section of the Heilongjiang River below Tongjiang, will also remain above warning levels. Some small to medium rivers in the heavy rainfall areas of Zhejiang Province may experience flooding that exceeds warning levels. From 8 a.m. on August 15 to 8 a.m. on August 16, there is a high possibility of mountain flood disasters occurring in northwestern Sichuan, southeastern Qinghai, and eastern Zhejiang. The Ministry of Water Resources issued an orange mountain flood disaster meteorological warning at 8 a.m. today and maintained a yellow flood warning, reminding the public in affected areas to take precautions against rain and flood impacts.
