Data released by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on the 13th showed that the winning yield for the $25 billion 30-year Treasury bond auction that day was 5.216%, the highest level since 2001, putting pressure on the U.S. government to issue long-term bonds at increased funding costs. The bond is scheduled for issuance on August 17 and will mature on August 15, 2056. Although the total bid amount reached $59.8 billion, investors demanded higher returns.
