New analytical data shows that, benefiting from the policy autonomy gained after Brexit, the UK government has increased funding for various energy projects, resulting in taxpayer-funded government subsidies more than doubling in the last fiscal year. An analysis report from international law firm Pinsent Masons indicates that by the end of the full fiscal year in March 2026, the total amount of subsidies from the UK government will reach 114 billion, compared to just 47.3 billion in the previous fiscal year. The majority of the new subsidy funding is directed towards energy projects, including the development of offshore wind farms and a special grant of over 50 billion allocated for the Sizewell C nuclear power plant.
