Spain claims to have dismantled a large human smuggling network in the Mediterranean, with 78 people arrested.

On August 7 local time, Spanish police announced the dismantling of a large transnational human smuggling network in the Mediterranean, arresting 78 suspects and seizing 18 high-speed boats. The police stated that the criminal gang is suspected of using speedboats to transport synthetic drugs from Spain to Algeria, and then using the same boats to smuggle illegal immigrants to mainland Spain and Ibiza. The case is still under further investigation.
