On August 6 local time, U.S. President Trump signed an executive order imposing minimum import prices and additional tariffs on imported polysilicon and its derivative products under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, in support of the U.S. domestic polysilicon, semiconductor, and solar supply chains. On the morning of the 7th, a reporter called the board secretary office of JinkoSolar regarding the tariff increase. A staff member from JinkoSolar stated that further analysis of the new U.S. policy is necessary and that more communication could occur once the analysis is fully developed. They also suggested referring to analyses from third-party organizations. On the same day, a staff member from Trina Solar told the reporter that their main business is selling modules, and polysilicon is just one of the raw materials in module production, being a part of the supply chain. Additionally, they noted that the company has relatively low export volumes to North America and primarily ships through partners, so the immediate impact is minimal. The reporter also attempted to contact the board secretary office of JA Solar on the 7th, but the call could not be connected.
