According to data released by the Congolese Ministry of Health on the 6th, the number of confirmed cases in the current Ebola outbreak has reached 4,053. The Director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, John Nkengasong, stated that the actual number of infections may be higher than the reported cases. The data published by the Congolese Ministry of Health shows that as of the 5th, the country had reported a cumulative total of 4,053 confirmed cases of Ebola, with 1,850 deaths and 793 recoveries. Nkengasong mentioned during an online press conference on the 6th that the actual number of infections could exceed the current statistics. The severity of this outbreak is unprecedented, and relevant parties will conduct research to determine whether the virus has mutated, in order to adjust response measures accordingly.
