On August 6, OpenAI announced an update to the ChatGPT model experience, enhancing the performance of GPT-5.6 Sol in terms of factual accuracy, answer focus, and consistency across multiple scenarios, while also expanding access to GPT-5.6 Luna for free users. OpenAI stated that Plus and Pro users will receive the updated GPT-5.6 Sol, which can adjust the depth of its responses based on the complexity of the questions and reduce unnecessary formatting content. For free users, OpenAI will default the model to GPT-5.6 Luna and broaden access, providing unlimited text chat functionality. For questions that require deeper reasoning, free users can use the newly added "Think" button to invoke higher reasoning capabilities.
