Africa's first desert heavy-haul railwayAlgeria's western railway mining lineofficially launched construction of its communication, signaling, and power system projects on the 2nd. The railway mining line spans a total length of 950 kilometers, with China Railway Construction Corporation and a local state-owned enterprise undertaking the construction of 575 kilometers. This is the largest infrastructure project undertaken by Chinese companies in Algeria. Since its opening in February of this year, the project has improved Algeria's national railway network and supported connectivity and economic development in the southwestern provinces of Algeria.
