On August 4, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervision Commission reported that, according to the Shandong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, an investigation has been initiated into the serious violations of discipline and law by Tang Fuquan, the former Vice Chairman of the Legal Committee of the Provincial Peoples Congress. The investigation revealed that Tang Fuquan lost his ideals and convictions, abandoned his original mission, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, and resisted organizational inspections; ignored the spirit of the Party's Eight-point Regulation, accepting banquets and travel arrangements that may affect the impartial execution of duties; violated organizational principles by concealing and failing to report personal relevant matters and illegally seeking personal benefits for others; breached the bottom line of integrity by improperly accepting gifts, cash, and consumption cards, and unlawfully owning shares in non-listed companies; acted outside the law for personal gain, engaging in power-for-money transactions, and used his official position to benefit others in project contracting and business operations, while illegally accepting large sums of money. Tang Fuquan seriously violated the Partys political discipline, organizational discipline, and integrity discipline, constituting serious job-related violations and suspected bribery crimes. Moreover, he showed no signs of restraint after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party, with serious nature and adverse impact, warranting serious consequences. In accordance with the "Regulations on Disciplinary Sanctions of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervisory Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Sanctions Law for Public Officials of the People's Republic of China," and other relevant provisions, after discussions by the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, it was decided to expel Tang Fuquan from the Party; to have the Shandong Provincial Supervision Commission remove him from public office; to terminate his qualifications as a delegate to the Twelfth Party Congress of Taian; to confiscate his illegal earnings; and to transfer his suspected criminal issues to the prosecution authorities for legal review and prosecution, along with the involved assets.
