The reporter learned today from the Ministry of Natural Resources that the "14th Five-Year Plan for National Geological Disaster Prevention and Control" has recently been released, clarifying the key tasks for geological disaster prevention and control during the 14th Five-Year period. By the end of 2025, there will be over 270,000 geological disaster points registered nationwide, posing potential threats to the safety of more than 11 million people. The released "Plan," addressing the characteristics of China's geological disasters with a "large stock" and "varied variables," clearly notes that improving the capability to respond to climate change risks is the main focus. It aims to establish a sound and efficient geological disaster prevention and control system, comprehensively enhance the grassroots capacity to resist geological disasters, deploy and implement seven key projects such as dynamic investigations of geological disaster points and risk zones, and delineate 21 key prevention and control areas for geological disasters.
