According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China is accelerating the construction of a new generation of communication networks. Currently, typical applications of gigabit optical networks have covered over 90% of major categories of the national economy. Zhao Ce, deputy director of the Department of Information and Communication Development of the Ministry, introduced that gigabit optical networks are rapidly integrating with technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data, covering 91 out of the 97 major categories of China's national economy. This has led to the formation of a number of replicable and scalable typical solutions in fields such as smart manufacturing, intelligent transportation, digital healthcare, and smart education. China has achieved gigabit connectivity in every county and broadband access in every village, with typical application cases of gigabit optical networks exceeding 50,000. Cities like Chongqing have achieved full urban-rural coverage of gigabit optical networks. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, relying on the all-optical network, has implemented a special action plan for millisecond-level computing in urban areas, resulting in a batch of highly recognizable and replicable representative practical achievements. By the end of June, the number of 10G passive optical network ports capable of providing gigabit network services in China reached 32.86 million, and over 70 major computing corridors have been built around the national computing hub node, with the network performance between relevant computing hub nodes continuously improving.
