Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced on July 24th that the third round of seawater discharge of nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant this year has ended, with approximately 7,900 tons discharged, exceeding the previously estimated discharge amount announced by the company. Data released by TEPCO on August 2nd this month showed that the total amount of nuclear contaminated water discharge in this round is estimated to be approximately 7,800 tons, with a total amount of radioactive tritium of about 13 trillion becquerels. In August 2023, the Japanese side unilaterally started discharging nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, ignoring strong criticism and opposition from the international community.
