Korean comprehensive index falls after three consecutive rises, chip stocks drag down the overall market.

Dragged down by the sharp decline in U.S. chip stocks overnight, the benchmark KOSPI index in South Korea fell by 3.2%, ending a three-day uptrend. SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and SK Square were the main weightings that dragged down the market. Foreign investors continued to sell off KOSPI components, while retail investors bought against the trend and domestic funds sold simultaneously. The small-cap KOSDAQ index also fell by 3%. The performance of the South Korean stock market was weaker than the MSCI Asia Pacific Index, which fell by 1.1%.
