The price of storage chips is fluctuating drastically, leading to a collective increase in the prices of smartphones.
This year, the domestic smartphone market has seen a rare collective price increase. Recently, reporters found during their research that both online e-commerce platforms and offline stores have raised prices on multiple new models and existing models from mainstream manufacturers, with price increases ranging from 300 yuan to 1000 yuan, and some high-end flagship products even exceeding 1000 yuan. It is understood that the prices of vivo's iQOO products have seen significant increases, with the standard version rising by 400 yuan to 1000 yuan, and the 16GB+1TB top configuration version seeing a cumulative increase of 1500 yuan compared to the initial release price. In stores like JD.com, the price increase for related products is over 1600 yuan. The prices of products such as Honor and Huawei's nova series have increased by 300 yuan to 1000 yuan compared to the previous generation. The industry generally believes that the drastic fluctuations in storage chip prices are the main reason for this round of smartphone price increases. Xiaomi Group's president Lu Weibing predicts that this round of price increases will continue at least until the end of 2027. IDC analysts believe that with a new replacement cycle expected in 2028 to 2029, the market is likely to see demand recovery.
