Since the beginning of the summer, persistent high temperatures have swept through many parts of the country. The National Energy Administration had previously predicted that by 2026, the maximum national electricity load would be between 1.575 to 1.6 billion kilowatts, with the possibility of exceeding 1.6 billion kilowatts in the event of widespread extreme high temperatures. It is estimated by industry insiders that the national total electricity consumption will increase by 5% to 6% in 2026, with supply and demand in a generally balanced state, but with some regions experiencing tighter balance during the summer. With the investment of trillions in the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" power grid, the construction of a new type of power system in China is accelerating. Experts point out that the integration of new energy sources and the construction of energy storage equipment are still the core of the transition, and that it is necessary for coal-fired and nuclear power to provide short-term support, while market-based policies are needed for long-term cooperation to ensure a strong foundation for electricity supply throughout the year.
