China Association for Science and Technology Releases 2026 Cutting-edge Science Issues

Hodge conjecture, key technologies for intelligent perception in deep sea environments, key technologies for industrialization of next-generation spectroscopic fast intelligent mineral exploration equipment in complex international environments... On July 15th, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) released 10 cutting-edge scientific questions, 10 engineering technological challenges, and 10 industrial technological issues. At the main forum of the 28th CAST Annual Meeting held in Beijing, major issues in artificial intelligence, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and other fields were highlighted. The 30 problem challenges announced by CAST at the main forum of the annual meeting also include "magnetic confinement nuclear fusion plasma," "collaborative observation, testing, and application of extreme disaster weather phenomena in the new star-earth-space mobile platforms" and "highly efficient and low-cost intelligent manufacturing technologies for large-scale constellation commercial satellites," among others. It was reported that this year's collection and release activities were led by 10 national societies and 7 society federations, who organized 70 scientists to recommend 84 problem challenges, with 23 academicians rigorously evaluating and reviewing the selection process.
