On July 10th, Cai Qi, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, attended a banquet commemorating the 65th anniversary of the signing of the "Sino-Korean Friendship Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Treaty" in Beijing with Pak Thae Song, member of the Central Political Bureau of the Workers' Party of Korea, Vice Chairman of the State Council, and Prime Minister, who led a delegation from the Korean government. Cai Qi stated that 65 years ago, the people of China and North Korea fought side by side in the turbulent years of striving for national independence and liberation, forging deep comradely bonds with their blood. The older generation of leaders of the two parties and two countries had foresight and signed the "Sino-Korean Friendship Cooperation and Mutual Assistance Treaty," laying a solid political and legal foundation for generations of friendship between the two countries. Over the past 65 years, China and North Korea have weathered changes in the international landscape, with their relationship progressing and consolidating. General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong-un have looked far and worked hard, jointly leading China-North Korea relations into a new historical period. China is willing to work together with North Korea, taking the important consensus of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries as the fundamental guidance, to continue the traditional friendship, and promote the socialist cause and traditional friendly cooperation between the two countries to new heights.
