There are security vulnerabilities in the management of confidential anti-terrorism information at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.
The Japanese Nuclear Regulation Authority reported on the 9th that Tokyo Electric Power Company's Fukushima Daiichi and Daini nuclear power plants improperly managed confidential information related to counterterrorism, allowing non-cleared personnel easy access to the information. The authority stated that these two nuclear power plants had multiple confidential documents related to counterterrorism measures, which were supposed to be strictly managed and stored in designated locations for access only by cleared personnel. However, it was discovered during an inspection that the counterterrorism confidential documents were stored in shared folders on multiple departmental computers, allowing non-cleared personnel who were not authorized to access this information to view it.
