As Japanese Finance Minister Kozue Watanabe delivered a speech, the yields on 20-year and 40-year Japanese government bonds fell, and the yen strengthened. The 20-year yield fell by 8.5 basis points to 3.78%; the 40-year yield fell by 7 basis points to 3.965%; and the 10-year Japanese government bond yield fell by 6 basis points to 2.815%. The yen rose by 0.3% against the dollar to 161.98. Watanabe stated that Japan will ensure market trust by reducing the proportion of debt to GDP, and expressed her support for the Japanese government pension fund to invest in financial assets.
