Mark Zuckerberg sets "aggressive" pricing strategy for Meta's paid artificial intelligence models.
In the fiercely competitive AI tool market, Mark Zuckerberg hopes to win with a price advantage. Meta Platforms Inc. has released its state-of-the-art artificial intelligence model Muse Spark 1.1, and for the first time, launched a paid version for developers. This is Meta's first time charging model usage fees to businesses, and also opens up a new source of revenue for the company. In an interview before the release, Zuckerberg said that this model will be one of the lowest priced options on the market. "Since this is not an open-source model, I think this is the first time we have seriously introduced an API," Zuckerberg said, "its pricing will be highly competitive and very attractive." Zuckerberg said that the biggest improvement of the new model is in intelligent agent capabilities. Intelligent agents are one of the hottest directions in the AI field this year, usually referring to systems that can represent users to complete multi-step tasks. He said Muse Spark 1.1 has reached a "industry-leading or very close to leading" level in intelligent agent reasoning and tool usage. He also mentioned that the model has significantly improved in terms of programming capabilities, and Meta employees have been using it internally to develop products and features for various applications. Meta will also launch a new Meta Model API system for developers to charge fees. Zuckerberg said that their API prices are about 25% of the top models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Developers can use the Meta model for free, but will need to pay after reaching a certain threshold of word element usage.
