Meta will invest $10 billion to build its first data center in Canada.

On July 8th local time, Meta issued a statement stating that it will invest 13 billion Canadian dollars to build its first data center in Canada in order to expand its infrastructure to support its artificial intelligence development goals. In the statement, Meta introduced that the data center is located in Sturgeon County, Alberta, with a power capacity of 1 gigawatt. Meta will provide funding for this new power facility, which will be connected to the Alberta provincial grid. Meta said that during the construction of the facility, 3000 construction workers will be needed, and once completed, it will create 300 full-time jobs. In addition, the company will also invest around 60 million Canadian dollars in local infrastructure improvements, including roads and water supply facilities.
