Indian Minister of Information Technology, Kriishnan, stated on Thursday that India is investigating the data breach incident of Tata Electronics company which led to the leakage of unreleased documents related to Apple's (AAPL.O) iPhone 18 Pro. This is the first public comment by the Indian government on this matter. It is reported that a ransomware group stole data from Apple's Indian supplier Tata Electronics and released documents including components and supplier sensitive lists, as well as photos of the iPhone 18 Pro model, on the dark web. Kriishnan stated that this incident has been reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), which is the primary organization responsible for computer security issues. This leakage incident has affected companies such as Tesla and Qualcomm, and Tata Group has hired global consultants for legal audit.
