American Independence Day fireworks display of over 850,000 sparks concerns.
The United States plans to hold a large-scale fireworks display in Washington D.C. on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the country on the 4th of this month. This fireworks display is said to be the "largest in the world," causing concerns about the environment and health. According to Agence France-Presse, the Trump administration's White House-led celebration organization "Freedom 250," launched at the end of 2025, has hired a professional fireworks display company based in Pennsylvania. The display is planned to begin at 10:30 p.m. on the 4th, igniting over 850,000 fireworks at 10 locations around the Lincoln Memorial and the Potomac River. The fireworks display is expected to last for 40 minutes, with the number of fireworks used exceeding the current Guinness World Record of 810,904 by about 40,000 and is about 50 times larger than the annual Independence Day fireworks display in Washington D.C.
