According to reports, a senior executive at Microsoft informed employees on Thursday morning that the company is planning to merge two AI chatbots, Copilot, targeting regular users and enterprise users, into a standalone application in order to create a stronger competitor, competing with Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's ChatGPT. An internal memo showed that Executive Vice President Jacob Andreyev stated in the 1200-word document that this new unified version of the application will also feature AI programming tools and multiple new intelligent agent functions, which will require additional fees to use. The memo mentioned that the new series of intelligent agents will be named AutoPilot, focusing on being "online around the clock" to handle various tasks for users and automate complex work. Microsoft has previously demonstrated an AutoPilot intelligent agent called Scout, which can organize user schedules, monitor inboxes, and create curated email summaries. Andreyev currently oversees multiple teams developing other intelligent agents in various categories.
