According to a report from Yonhap News Agency, data from the South Korean exchange on July 1st showed that individual investors in the South Korean stock market accumulated a net purchase of funds totaling 97.4 trillion Korean won from January to May this year. Based on a recent report from Samsung Securities, the increase in funds from individual investors can be attributed to three main sources: an increase in South Korean residents' income, new income being used for investment; residents adjusting their financial asset allocation structure; entering the market through leverage and borrowing. The report stated that in terms of specific markets, individual investors made a net purchase of 56.8 trillion Korean won in the South Korean main board market, a net sale of 7.1 trillion Korean won in the South Korean KOSDAQ market, and a cumulative net purchase of 47.7 trillion Korean won in stock ETFs. Samsung Securities believes that the source of funds is not a single channel, and the re-allocation of funds, with a large amount of funds flowing into the stock market with more attractive returns, is the core driving force.
