According to Reuters, GameStop has stated that it will continue to push forward with its acquisition plan for eBay, even though eBay has rejected its offer of around $56 billion in cash and stock. GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen surprised Wall Street in May when he made the bid to acquire eBay. He believes that the merged company would become a greater competitor to Amazon and has stated that he would be responsible for its operations. eBay rejected the offer in the same month. GameStop has stated that it will stick to its plan to acquire eBay but has not disclosed the reasons for the transaction or the next steps. Additionally, GameStop stated in a brief regulatory filing that it expects adjusted EBITDA to exceed $600 million in the 2026 fiscal year, higher than the $3.454 billion reported in the 2025 fiscal year.
