South Korea is considering speeding up the construction of nuclear power plants to support the semiconductor industry cluster.
The South Korean government is considering shortening the construction period of nuclear power plants, as its planned semiconductor industry cluster is expected to consume a large amount of electricity. Kang Hoon-sik, chief secretary of the South Korean presidential office, told the media, "It is well known that nuclear power plants typically take 9 to 10 years to complete. We will study methods to shorten this period." Kang Hoon-sik said that the relevant details will be included in the upcoming long-term basic plan for electricity supply and demand.
