The path is clear but challenges still exist, and the energy storage industry is facing triple tests.

The development path of China's energy storage industry has become increasingly clear, but "clear" does not always mean "smooth". The energy storage industry in 2026 is facing three major challenges of declining profitability, tightening regulations, and reshaping the supply chain, each of which presents a rigorous test for the commercialization of new energy storage. Feng Yongqi, a senior equipment analyst at Wanlian Securities, pointed out that compared to international companies such as Tesla and Fluence that dominate the high-end energy storage market in Europe and America, Chinese companies need to further strengthen their response mechanisms in overseas markets, cross-cultural management capabilities, and full life cycle operation and maintenance services. Chinese companies still rely on external supply in some key core components sectors, and there is a lack of basic materials and underlying technologies, with room for improvement in the level of independent core technology and original innovation capabilities.
