Multiple German media outlets cited preliminary observation data from the German Meteorological Office on the 26th, stating that Germany recorded a high temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius that day, setting a new record for the country's highest temperature. This reading was taken at 5 p.m. local time in Saarbrcken-Burbach in the western state of Saarland. The previous record for the highest temperature in Germany was 41.2 degrees Celsius, recorded in the towns of Tnisvorst and Duisburg-Barl in North Rhine-Westphalia on July 25, 2019.
