On June 26th, Wei Shaojun, Vice President of China Semiconductor Industry Association and President of the Design Branch, stated at the 2026 China (Shenzhen) Integrated Circuit Summit that the current domestic semiconductor industry has a basically sufficient supply of low-end talent, but there is a shortage of high-end talent. He suggested improving and implementing talent policies. It was reported that in 2025, China's integrated circuit design industry achieved sales of 826.11 billion yuan, an increase of 24.8% year-on-year; the average compound annual growth rate over the past twenty years has been close to 20%. In addition, there are currently about 3,900 integrated circuit design companies in China, but 87% of them are small and micro enterprises with less than a hundred employees, which is a relatively high proportion.
