Landslide in Hunan's Mayang Mountain causes 1 death and 1 missing.

On June 21, 2026, at around 9:10 am, due to continuous heavy rain, a landslide occurred in Group 7 of Cangwu Village, Gaocun Town, Mayang Miao Autonomous County, causing a village self-built house to collapse and resulting in 2 people missing. After the disaster occurred, the city and county leaders attached great importance to it, immediately rushed to the scene to guide the rescue work, and set up an on-site rescue command center. Provincial, city and county related rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and carried out search and rescue work with full force. At the same time, the county, town, and village levels conducted risk assessment, monitoring, personnel transfer and resettlement work simultaneously to prevent secondary disasters from happening. Currently, one of the missing persons has been found, while efforts are underway to search for the other person.
