Yongchuan District of Chongqing Municipality has initiated Level 3 emergency response to geological disasters.

On June 17th, the Anti-earthquake and Disaster Relief and Geological Hazard Prevention and Control Rescue Headquarters of Yongchuan District, Chongqing City issued a notice, activating a level three emergency response for geological disasters. According to the quick weather report from the district meteorological bureau at 17:00 on June 16th, due to the joint influence of the southwest vortex and low-level jet stream, it is expected that from daytime on the 17th to daytime on the 19th, there will be a heavy rainfall process in Yongchuan District, with an accumulated rainfall of 40-80 mm, locally exceeding 120 mm, and the maximum hourly rainfall of 40-60 mm. The main impact period is from the night of the 17th to the daytime of the 18th. The rainfall will be accompanied by thunderstorms, short-term heavy precipitation, and strong convective weather with gusty winds of 6-8 Beaufort scale. In accordance with the provisions of the Yongchuan District Geological Disaster Emergency Plan, after consultation and assessment, the district geological authorities decided to activate a level three emergency response for geological disasters in the entire district from 12:00 on June 17th, 2026.
