Institution: Global electric vehicle registration volume increased by 3% year-on-year in May.
The data released by the consulting agency Benchmark Mineral Intelligence shows that due to various subsidy policies and continuously high oil prices driving the demand for fuel vehicle replacement, global demand for electric vehicles has increased for the third consecutive month in May. BMI stated that in May, the number of newly registered pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 3% compared to the same period last year, with a total of approximately 1.8 million vehicles; the cumulative number of newly registered vehicles in the first five months of this year increased slightly by 0.9% compared to the same period last year. Charles Lester, BMI's data director, stated: "Currently, Europe is the core driving force for global growth in electric vehicles." Lester said that relying on government subsidies and high oil prices stimulating consumers to purchase cars in advance, the number of electric vehicles registered in Europe in May surged by 23%, reaching approximately 415,000 vehicles.
