The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, leading a delegation, arrived in Uzbekistan. After discussion, both the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Uzbekistan Government agreed to implement the details of a mutual visa waiver arrangement, allowing visitors from both sides to stay visa-free for 30 days. Both governments will promptly proceed with the implementation of specific arrangements for early implementation. Currently, holders of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passports can visit Uzbekistan visa-free for 10 days; holders of Uzbekistan diplomatic and official passports can visit Hong Kong visa-free for 14 days, while holders of ordinary Uzbekistan passports need to apply for a visa to visit Hong Kong. Carrie Lam expressed that the implementation of a mutual visa waiver arrangement between the two places can promote exchanges, drive the development of tourism, education, and business cooperation, lay a solid foundation for long-term economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, and also help Hong Kong expand into the emerging markets in Central Asia.
