Shang Xiwen, former deputy general manager of China Power Energy Corporation Limited, has been expelled from the Communist Party.

The website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the National Supervisory Commission reported on June 3 that, according to the news from the discipline inspection and supervision team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the National Supervisory Commission stationed at China Huadian, the former member of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of China Huadian Power Generation Co., Ltd., Shang Xiwen, is being investigated for serious violations of discipline and law. After investigation, it was found that Shang Xiwen violated the Party's integrity discipline by accepting gifts and money that could affect the fair execution of official duties, and accepting banquets that could also affect the fair execution of official duties. He completely crossed the bottom line of discipline and law, turning public power into a tool for personal gain. He used his position to provide assistance to others in the acquisition of coal mine assets, coal procurement, and transportation support, and illegally accepted huge amounts of money. Shang Xiwen's severe violations of Party discipline constitute serious violations of duty and suspected bribery crimes. He did not restrain himself or stop his actions after the 18th Party Congress, showing a serious nature and having a bad impact, therefore, he should be severely punished. In accordance with relevant regulations such as the "Disciplinary Measures of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Disciplinary Law for Public Officials of the People's Republic of China," after the research of the China Huadian Party Committee, it was decided to expel Shang Xiwen from the Party. After the research of the discipline inspection and supervision team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the National Supervisory Commission stationed at China Huadian, it was decided to cancel Shang Xiwen's retirement benefits, confiscate his illegally obtained assets, and transfer his suspected criminal issues to the procuratorate for investigation and prosecution, with the relevant assets.
