Lpez Obrador emphasized that political affairs in Mexico are the exclusive jurisdiction of Mexican citizens and should not be subjected to external interference. The US Ambassador should focus on bilateral affairs, respect Mexico's internal affairs, and Mexican affairs should be the responsibility of the Mexican people. On June 1st, the US Ambassador to Mexico, Johnson, made comments on social media stating that combating drug trafficking groups should be a joint effort between Mexico and the United States. Lpez Obrador reiterated that the Mexican government is willing to coordinate and cooperate with the United States on security issues, but each country must take action within its own territory.
