On the 26th, the sixth batch of the third round of central ecological and environmental protection inspections released typical cases, highlighting issues in the protection and restoration of mangroves, treatment of tailwater from mariculture in Beihai and Qinzhou cities in Guangxi, and the lagging progress and ineffective supervision of nearshore marine ecological protection work. In terms of inadequate protection and restoration of mangroves, the inspection team pointed out that according to the requirements of relevant national documents, Beihai City plans to create 12.8 hectares of mangroves in the Shangkou Mangrove Ecological National Nature Reserve. The inspection found that a large number of mangroves planted in the same area in two rounds died, with only 0.65 hectares of surviving area. In the absence of relevant acceptance of the project, the local government reported the planned afforestation area for 2023 as the actual afforestation area.
