The 4th high-level conference of the 2018-2028 Decade Action "Water for Sustainable Development" opened on the 25th in the Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe, where delegates will discuss how to address global water challenges and promote the implementation of sustainable development goals. The conference will last for 4 days, with over 2500 representatives from international and regional organizations like the United Nations, as well as governments, research institutions, and financial institutions from various countries in attendance. The aim of the conference is to deepen international cooperation, take practical action to address global water challenges, and support the implementation of sustainable development goals related to water resources. During the conference, plenary meetings and thematic meetings will be held, focusing on sustainable water resource management, addressing the impact of climate change, glacier protection, and water diplomacy. Under the "Dushanbe Process" initiative, the "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028 Decade Action high-level conference is held every two years. The "Dushanbe Process" is an initiative launched by the Tajikistan government in collaboration with the United Nations to jointly promote the implementation of the goals of the international Decade Action "Water for Sustainable Development". In December 2016, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on the international Decade Action "Water for Sustainable Development", aiming to promote the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources to achieve social, economic, and environmental goals, promote the implementation of relevant programs and projects to help achieve water-related goals, including those related to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
