Micron Manassas wafer plant begins production of 1 process DDR4.
Micron's wafer fab in Manassas, Virginia recently began production of 1 DRAM chips. The 1 DRAM node is described as the most advanced memory technology ever developed in the United States, and is very suitable for long-lifecycle memory applications, including DDR4 and LPDDR4 products. Micron also stated that its 1 DRAM technology is the most advanced DDR4 technology in the world, and will support long-lifecycle product demands in sync with the company's leading memory technologies in Boise, Idaho and Clay, New York in the coming years. Micron expects the Manassas fab to complete qualified 1 DRAM production by the end of 2026. This investment of over $2 billion will increase Micron's DDR4 wafer supply at the Manassas facility by a factor of four.
