Three LNG carriers quietly passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
Although the Strait of Hormuz is almost completely closed, three tankers loaded with liquefied natural gas have recently appeared to successfully pass through the channel, as suppliers from Qatar and the UAE attempt to transport fuel to major buyers. Ship tracking data shows that the tanker "Al Rayyan" was discovered north of the Omani capital Muscat after passing through the Strait of Hormuz, having stopped transmitting signals around May 22 while anchored near the Ras Laffan export facility in the Persian Gulf. Another tanker, the Fuwairit, which was carrying Qatari cargo in late March, also passed through the Strait of Hormuz between Sunday and Monday. The ship stopped transmitting signals while partially passing through the strait, and later reappeared north of Muscat. According to the data, this ship is currently moving towards Pakistan. Since the outbreak of war in late February, the liquefied natural gas exporting countries in the Persian Gulf region have been trying to find ways to transport fuel out of the region. Media reports on Sunday stated that an LNG tanker loaded with cargo at the Das Island export facility of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company has left the Strait of Hormuz and was seen heading towards India over the weekend.
